10 days of digging into the beatitudes
day 3
gentle > aggressive
Blessed are the meek:
for they will inherit the earth.
You don’t have to look much beyond our current political climate, social media, etc to see that what seems to drive most decisions is a power grab.
We want our opinion to be heard - and that’s a good thing. We want to stand up for what’s right - that’s a good thing, too.
However, I wonder if we haven’t started to buy into the culture’s way of attaining or achieving, which is to be aggressive. Be loud. Speak more, listen less.
What if those who are meek will actually reap the reward in the end?
Meekness doesn’t mean letting people walk all over you - it’s not a weak, passive thing. There is no strength like gentleness.
Let’s focus on today. You’re awake, you have goals, you have meetings, you have boxes to check and missions to accomplish.
What if your driving force was not all that you can attain today, but what you can do with all that Jesus has given you? What if the thing that propelled you forward today was not what you can conquer in order to have a good life, but the fact that Jesus conquered death for you, that you could have an abundant life?
Step deeper into humility. The loud look like they’re in control and the rich seem to own all the land… but the meek shall inherit the earth.
