10 Great Nashville Neighborhoods
Nashville, Tennessee is a vibrant city that has been experiencing rapid growth over the past decade. The city is home to many popular neighborhoods that have a unique character and a distinct flavor. I’m a music fan, a foodie, and a nature lover… so I try to take everything into consideration. Here are — in my opinion — the 8 hottest neighborhoods in Nashville:
The Gulch: The Gulch is a trendy neighborhood that is known for its upscale restaurants, high-end boutiques, and trendy bars. It gives you the city feel without the tourism of Broadway. The neighborhood is popular with young professionals and is a great place to experience a different side of the city's nightlife.
East Nashville: East Nashville is a hip and eclectic neighborhood that boasts a vibrant arts scene, delicious food, and funky shops. The neighborhood is popular with musicians, artists, and creative types. Most of my friends live in East, and I’m there for craft cocktails at Attaboy or dinner at one of Sean Brock’s restaurants at least once a week.
12South: 12South is a charming neighborhood — a street, really — lined with quaint shops, boutiques, and cafes. Most of my clients in 12South have been families and young professionals who enjoy the area's small-town feel. Urban Grub will be one of your favorite dinner spots… get the pork chop. And I never recommend pork chops.
Hillsboro Village: Just to the west of 12South is Hillsboro Village, a historic neighborhood known for its charming architecture and unique shops. This area serves as a hub for students from Belmont or Vanderbilt.
Germantown: Germantown is a historic neighborhood north of downtown. It has been revitalized in recent years, and features some of the cities most picturesque views and photo-worthy meals. The neighborhood is known for its beautiful architecture (both old and new), delicious restaurants, and trendy shops.
Belle Meade: I think this area offers something different than the others on this list. You may be familiar with Belle Meade bourbon. If not, that is your first assignment. It’s namesake, Belle Meade, is a prestigious neighborhood that is known for its grand mansions, beautiful parks, and upscale shopping. Affluent families and professionals tend to spend time here.
Green Hills: Green Hills is a suburban neighborhood with urban appeal and amenities. High-end shopping, luxurious homes, and beautiful parks make this a desirable place to call home. For a while, you HAD to go there for Trader Joe’s - but now there are more locations around town. The area is great for people who want the shopping and dining of a city center but also enjoy a quiet and peaceful lifestyle. Plus, you’re not far from Radnor Lake and the perfect waterfront walk on a sunny day.
Sylvan Park: Sylvan Park features tree-lined streets, great food/bars, and a golf course (McCabe) that will keep you on your toes. There’s plenty of entertainment but you can enjoy walking in the park, not just on the sidewalk.
*BONUS* West End: West End is a bustling neighborhood that is known for its high-rise condos, trendy shops, and delicious restaurants. Great schools, easy access to the rest of town, and the fast-paced lifestyle make this an exciting area for adventurous professionals and families.
Overall, Nashville is a city that has something to offer everyone. Whether you prefer a small-town feel or a fast-paced lifestyle, there is a neighborhood in Nashville that will meet your needs.
